This hand-turned ash bowl features a scorched rim, creating a strong contrast with the natural colour and grain of the wood.

The rim has been carefully scorched and then sanded back. Because the softer areas of ash burn more deeply than the harder grain, the process creates a naturally textured surface that can both be seen and felt.

The inside of the bowl has been left smooth, allowing the natural sweeping grain of the ash to remain the main feature. 

Finished with a food safe finish, making it suitable for serving food as well as for decorative use.
