This decorative tea light holder is hand-turned from oak and has been carefully scorched with a blowtorch to bring out the natural grain of the wood. After scorching, I lightly sanded the surface back to reveal the grain, before applying the finish, leaving the darker grain standing out against the warm colour of the oak.

The softer areas of the grain burn more deeply than the harder areas. Once finished, this leaves the natural grain not only highlighted but subtly textured, so it can be felt as well as seen.

Supplied with a small glass insert for a tea light.
